Choosing the best masticating juicer isn’t an easy task. There are many different varieties on the market, all with similar, yet quite different features. Some of these juicers are designed to make more than juice. Yes, you read that right. Some of them create everything from noodles to baby food. They work as coffee grinders, and even frozen dessert makers. However, others just make what they’re designed to – juice. No matter the additional features, the key to finding a good juicer lies in the quality of the juice that it produces.
What constitutes a good glass of juice? Well, one that contains just the right amount of pulp for your tastes, as well as quite a few vitamins and minerals – the nutrients that matter and are the entire reason for making your own juice. Without these health benefits, you’d just be drinking processed juice from a store. Thankfully, the juicers listed here are all masticating types (which we’ll get into later) that use a cold-press process in order to create a glass of juice that contains as many nutrients as possible.
Are you ready to find the best masticating, cold press juicer for your needs? If so, read on to see the ones that we recommend.
How We Chose the Best Masticating Juicers
In order to choose the best masticating juicers, we go through a very rigorous testing process. This requires getting our hands on them, and then using them to create juice. In order to fairly test each model, we use the same juice recipe each time.
In the case of juicers that make more than just juice, such as several of the models mentioned here that create things like marinades, nut butter, and noodles, we test out those individual components. In the end, a number of factors go into each rating. We look at how well they performed.
We also examine their additional features, overall size and weight, and how easy they are to clean. We look at what their exteriors are made of, as well as any color combinations that they are available in. All of this is done in order to paint a full picture of the capabilities of each one.
Once we go over all of these components and specifications, we take any shortcomings into consideration. Every machine has them. However, as long as the positive features of each outweigh those shortcomings, the model receives a good ranking. Our rankings are based on a number of factors, including the ones listed here, as well as several others.
When it’s time to purchase a juicer, you need to do your research. Thankfully, we’ve already tackled some of that for you. We’ve listed five of the best models here. These all performed very well in the tests and are worthy of our final recommendation.
Before we move on with actually giving you a brief preview of each model, let’s take a look at a comparison between all of them:

We’ve concluded that the Tribest GSE-5010 Greenstar Elite Cold Press Complete is overall the best masticating juicer. This unit contains two stainless, bio-ceramic gears that are designed to crunch, cut, and slice the fruits and vegetables within the machine. The process produces a juice that contains a number of important vitamins and minerals. Plus, it can make more than juice.
It’s designed to handle everything from baby food to salsa. Basically, the Tribest is a high-end machine that is worth every penny that you’ll pay for it. The more you use it, the more the expense is justified. It’s one of the top juicers on the market, which is why we’ve placed it so high on our list. The Tribest is very reliable and will last you quite some time. It even comes with a manufacturer’s warranty.
Although this machine is not without its flaws (it’s rather heavy and can be tricky to use at first), it more than makes up for them with its versatility. On top of this, the machine is easy to clean. It also comes in several different colors, including black, white, and chrome.
Overall, it weighs 17.2 pounds, which is slightly more than the usual juicer. This model measures 18.6 inches wide by 6.8 inches deep and 12.4 inches high. We highly recommend this particular model, which is why it’s so high on our list. Basically, it will look great on your kitchen counter. If you need a juicer that’s also a workhorse, then this is a model for you. You can read a full review by clicking the button below!

The Omega Juicer NC900HDC Juicer Extractor and Nutrition Center weighs 17.54 pounds. It measures 14.5 inches wide by 15.5 inches high and 6.5 inches deep. As you can see, it’s quite a bit smaller than the previous model. However, this isn’t a bad thing. This unit is a powerful machine. It comes programmed with five different settings, ranging from an easy juice-making level to one that can make wheatgrass on demand.
As you can imagine, it takes a bit more power to make wheatgrass than standard juice. Some models don’t handle things like wheatgrass well. They aren’t built for the additional strain of pressing, chopping, and extracting juice from green things like wheatgrass, kale, and spinach. However, the powerful motor in this unit can easily handle these tasks. If you need a wheatgrass juicer, then this is a good model to look into purchasing.
Although it’s an excellent wheatgrass juicer, the Omega makes things like marinades and salsas. There are included attachments that are designed to help you make your own baby food and even chop up onions and other vegetables for standard cooking purposes.
On the downside, this machine is a bit time consuming to clean. A lot is involved in the cleaning process, which requires you to take it apart and clean all of the components individually. The plastic exterior (although BPA-free) is a bit flimsier than similar units. That’s a minor issue, however. The machine will still last for quite some time. With that said, this is a great machine for the price. You can see our full review of it by clicking the button below!

The Hurom HU-100 Masticating Slow Juicer is another multi-use machine. Although it isn’t as versatile as the models listed above, it can handle things like juice and baby food with ease. It also doubles as a handy food processor. This model is one of the smallest products on our top five list. It weighs 14 pounds, which is several pounds less than similar models. It measures 15.8 inches tall by 6.8 inches deep, and 9.8 inches wide.
This unit won’t take up much counter space, leaving you with plenty of room for other appliances. It is also well-designed and quite modern looking. It has a white plastic (BPA-free of course) exterior with a green stripe on its handle. It’s quite colorful, thanks to this accent. This differentiates it from the other juicers. It also has fogged plastic in several areas, mostly where the juice extraction process takes place. This machine will look great in your kitchen, thanks to its strikingly simple color palette and overall look.
Although the unit is small, it does have a few issues. These include the fact that you need to chop every bit of produce into smaller pieces before inserting them into the machine. Once those ingredients are ready, however, the machine will suck them in on its own.
This is quite different from other machines, where you practically have to jam everything in. It also won’t handle things like greens (wheatgrass, kale, and so on) well. With that said, it does make an excellent glass of standard juice. For that reason, as well as others, this is on our top five list. Our complete review of the Hurom juicer can be found by clicking below.

The Slow Masticating Juicer by Tiluxury is made of Tritan food grade anti-oxidizing materials. These consist of a combination of stainless steel, silicone, and PEI (also known as Polyetherimide, which is a type of thermoplastic). This is one of the lower-end models on our list, but don’t overlook it due to its price. Unlike the other items listed here, the Tiluxury model just makes juice – and it does it very well.
This model is powered by a 250-watt motor and runs at an amazingly slow 40 rpm (rotations per minute.) The slow speed allows it to fully crush every bit of produce in the machine, turning them into pulpy juice full of important nutrients. With this unit, you can make juice from things like vegetables, leafy vegetables (kale, spinach, and so on), and fruit. It can easily extract juice from all of them.
It is also fairly small and lightweight. It weighs 16.5 pounds and measures seven inches wide by eight inches deep and 19 inches tall. Due to its small size, the juicer is easy to store in a cabinet when it’s not in use, or when you need as much counter space as possible. That’s always a good thing since some of these models are quite large. This is quite a workhorse, despite its size. It will last reliably for years, and its sleek black and silver exterior looks good in many different kitchens. If you’ve been looking for a fairly simple, easy to use and clean machine, then this model is for you. You can click below to see the full review.
5. Most Versatile – Omega J8006 Nutrition Center
- Omega Nutrition Center Juicer
- 80 RPM, single auger

Coming last, but far from least on our list is the Omega J8006 Nutrition Center. Like the similar Omega model listed above, this one handles a large number of tasks, ranging from making noodles to grinding coffee. It does with thanks to the many attachments that it comes with. This appliance measures 14.5 inches wide, by 6.5 inches deep, and 15.5 inches tall and weighs 17 pounds. Because it’s a fairly large machine, it will take up some counter space. But, it’s used more than makeup for that. You’ll find yourself reaching for this juicer time and time again, especially when you need to make things besides juice. It really handles a number of different tasks quite well.
However, this unit is not without its minor issues. The juice that it produces tends to be on the pulpy side, mostly due to its double extraction process, which squeezes the fruits and vegetables, and then their leftover pulp, before extruding the juice. The end cap is somewhat prone to cracking, and of course, the machine is tough to take apart and clean. What really matters here is that the pros outweigh the cons.
When it comes to the Omega J8006, they certainly do. With that said, if you want a great all-around juicer, then this is the appliance for you. It even comes with a 15-year warranty. You really can’t go wrong with this choice. A full review can be found by clicking below!
The Best Masticating Juicer Buyers Guide
Juicers come with a number of different features, although all of them are essentially built the same way. There are four main components. The top section, which is a feeder chute, is where the ingredients are inserted. With some units, you can put a whole orange in there, and it will extract the juice and the useful pulp from it.
The second section is where the gears and motor are located. This is how the machine does what it’s designed to. Those gears can be made out of everything from sturdy, food-grade plastic to stainless steel. They are attached to the motor, which makes the entire unit run. The motors are run by electricity, and every appliance must be plugged into a wall for it to work.
Also, these machines have a chute at the bottom (the third component) which is where the juice comes out at. This spigot of sorts needs to have a glass or pitcher at the bottom of it in order to catch the juice. Finally, the last component is a compartment where the pulp, peels, and other organic material is collected. This component tends to be easy to remove, which is good since it must be cleaned out regularly.
Juicers can have a number of other features as well, including additional attachments to help you make things besides juice. Some come with cleaning utensils as well. How many features that come with these kitchen products can vary wildly. Even low-end, inexpensive models can have useful features that compare strongly to the higher-end ones.
On top of the many features, there are other things to look for when buying a masticating juicer. These include the appliance’s price, size, and weight. You don’t want to buy one that won’t fit on your kitchen counter, or is out of your price range. With that said, the most important thing to look for is the overall features. Does the thing do what you want it to?
Before you purchase a masticating juicer, there are several things that you need to know. These include how these machines actually work. A masticating juicer works quite differently from a standard, which extracts the juices by squeezing or spinning them.
Introducing Masticating Technology
Masticating juicing technology has evolved to the point where this auger and cold press systems can be combined into one unit. This had led to the creation of quite a few multi-use machines, many of which make everything from marinades to salsas, as well as juices.
Some even make things like noodles and baby food. Some people are of the belief that if a product makes more than one thing, then it doesn’t do any of those things well. This isn’t the case at all. These multi-use machines handle all of their prescribed tasks with aplomb. After owning one, you’ll be surprised at how you managed to live without it for so long.
Why You Would Want A Masticating Juicer
There are a number of benefits to this type of appliance. For one, they manage to extract a lot of juice from the vegetables and fruits that you place in them. Traditional juicers do make juice (after all, that’s what they’re supposed to do), but they don’t create a whole lot of it.
Since a masticating juicer chops up the product before making the juice, you receive much more of it. On top of that, a masticating and cold press juicer is one that includes some of the pulp and other parts of the fruit in the juice. This doesn’t mean that you’ll be drinking juice filled with apple seeds.
However, you will receive a vast amount of vitamins and minerals in each glass – more than you would get with a standard model. This juice is much better for you. Whether you plan on following a juice cleanse program, just like starting your breakfast with a glass of homemade juice or enjoy drinking juice over everything else, these models here are definitely for you.
The Masticating Process
The mastication process uses an auger to shred the fruits and vegetables in the juicer’s hopper. This auger is designed to chew them to bits essentially. Hence the name “masticating.” As it works, the juices – as well as any essential vitamins and minerals that are lurking in the skins and peels of the fruits – are extracted from the produce. As a result, you’ll end up with a glass of juice that tastes fresh and is very good for you.
Want to know how to prepare for a fruit juice cleanse? Find out on our article on the topic!
Cold Press Technology
Cold press juice technology uses a hydraulic press in order to extract the juice from the ingredients that you’ve placed in the machine. This process starts with shredding. The fruits and vegetables are shredded into tiny pieces, and then they are pressed to extract the juice. The highest-rated units managed to combine the masticating and cold-press technology into one juice-making powerhouse.
How These Machines Compare to Others
Unlike other juicers, many of the models listed here combine both masticating and cold-press technology. The first step involves the “chewing” of the ingredients. Once they’re reduced to tiny bits and pieces, the press takes over, extracting the juice. In some cases, the pulp is double-processed. After the initial juice is extracted, the pulp is squeezed one additional time. This gives you more juice.
Traditional juicers don’t masticate or use cold presses in order to make juice. They work more like blenders and manage to extract the juice while removing much of the pulp from the process. However, the more pulp, the better, since that is where all of the nutrients lie. Without the pulp, the juice is no better than the type found at the grocery store, minus the added sugar, of course.
Our masticating juicer reviews are very comprehensive. You’ll find plenty of details in them, all of which we’ve included making the decision process much easier. Before you purchase a model for your kitchen, take the time to check out any reviews and go over the machine’s features. You also need to decide which of those features you want in a juicer. Some people prefer a multi-use model, while others prefer one that just makes one thing – juice. No matter what, hopefully, we’ve simplified the process a bit here and have steered you towards the best juicer for your needs. It might even be one of the five reviewed (and linked to) above. Once again, our top choice is the Tribest!
